FROM THE 27TH JANUARY 2022, IT IS NO LONGER MANDATORY TO WEAR FACE COVERINGS. HOWEVER, THE PARISH COUNCIL STILL SUGGESTS VISITORS WEAR A FACE COVERING IN THE COMMUNAL AREAS OF THE BUILDING.
The Stevenson Centre has been the community hub for the people of Great Cornard since it was built in the late 1960’s and is believed to be the best flat-access building in the whole area. In 2012, through consultation and feedback from the Centre’s users and the Community, the Parish Council decided to address the issues of capacity and to meet the needs of the growing number of elderly residents and the specialised requirements of the health support groups using the Centre. The £500k Project provided for a new extension to the main building housing a large community room and kitchenette, two further meeting rooms, extra storage and toilet facilities.
"The Village now has a wonderful community facility for the use and enjoyment of the growing Great Cornard community both now and in the future" ~ Council Chairman Stewart Sheridan
The Stevenson Centre has a Defibrillator!
Located at the front entrance to The Stevenson Centre, the Cardiac Science Powerheart 5 Defibrillator has now been installed and is available for both users of the Centre and members of the public. Please remember to dial 999 first.
